Most of her inspiration comes from her surrounding environment, from the harsh sweeping outback plains of the desert, to the far north tropical rainforest and sultry sandy beaches, Diane is able to capture these images magnificently.

Diane states, "My work is motivated by the desire to depict more than merely the superficial aspects of everyday life. Using the process of painting and mixed media I explore the subconscious influences on memory and perception. The multi layered aspect of conscious and subconscious thought is complex so my exploration attempts to portray this. Such an approach allows the viewers to discover the work from the context of their own perception and experience"

The surreal and realistic approach of this painting and by the use of mixed media tell the story of a pigeon, I found with bad injury, that I nursed back to health, the black and white feather is model from one she left behind, she still come back for a visit.
