Introducing Di Sant - Artist
Art has been a passion all my life. As a young girl living on a goat farm in the outback, I would take charcoal from the wood stove to use for my first drawings. I was later introduced to the use of acrylics at school. I furthered my eduction in art by enrolling in Scott's Correspondence College, where I studied oil painting. After a long break and a serious motor vehicle accident, I resumed my interest in art attending life-drawing classes with the late John Kibby. John's guidence motivated me, and as a result I have held exhibitions in various cities around Australia including Newcastle, Brisbane, Winton, Melbourne, Sydney, Atherton and Cairns. I have also participated in overseas exhibitions in Canada, Papua New Guinea and study trips to Fiji and New Zealand. In late 2007. I will be participating in a workshop coming up in a provoence south of France. At TAFE I completed Certificate III and a Diploma in Visual Arts. I enjoy working within a diverse range of media and subject, my style varies from the portraits, landscapes, animals and impressions. My love of texture, and my passion for the oil medium will keep me exploring my artwork. **In the past two years I have been invited to enter the prestigious Archibald Prize portrait competition.** |
